Our Story: The Spirit of IL MORO

Tucked just off Olympic Boulevard in West Los Angeles, IL MORO has been a beloved neighborhood gem since 1994 — known for authentic Italian cuisine, warm service, and a sophisticated modern atmosphere.

Now led by Mladjen and Chef Vicente, IL MORO continues to evolve while staying true to its roots — bringing together Italian craftsmanship, local creativity, and the art of fine dining. The name “IL MORO” draws inspiration from Shakespeare’s Othello, the Moor of Venice — a story of passion and culture. That same spirit of depth and artistry lives on in every detail of the restaurant today.

Designed by Jeff Daniels, the interiors feature dramatic, sweeping architecture that doubles as a gallery space. Il Moro proudly supports local artists, hosting rotating exhibits that blend culinary and visual art — creating an atmosphere as inspiring as the cuisine itself.

Our gastrobar captures the energy of Italian cafés with a modern twist. Whether you’re stopping by for a morning espresso, a pre-dinner aperitivo, or late-night cocktails, our bar is always alive with conversation, music, and style.
